Screen Shots - Pixlr

Original Image- Editing using www.pixlr.com

Here I changed the brightness on the image, I lowered it to '-34' making the eye colour more intense, but the shadows around it more prominent.

Editing Photos + Photo Manipulation

I want to include eye's in my poster as they show a lot of emotion, and at the same time can be used to show an image or key even from the film, in the iris. I think that editing the eye to make it appear as if something is happening in it, or around it is effective for a horror poster. It's not too graphic, but it can be made to look quite creepy and paranormal.
Eyes can be used with reflections and the opacity levels when editing. Therefore it can be made to look almost see-through like, with another image layered on top or underneath.

Here is a photo I took in the old Ice Skating Rink in Hastings.
The photo on the left is the original, and the photo on the right is the edit. To edit this, I changed the brightness, contrast and saturation. I changed the brightness from 0 to 11. This made the rubble on the right of the image to become clearer. The contrast I changed from 0 to 17. It made the image look less falsly bright, but still clear. With the Saturation I lowered it from 0 to -26. It faded the image, making it appear more aged rather than false and quite new. I prefer the edit to the original image as it makes it a better photo. Before, it was just a pipe with a black background, whereas now you can see everything in the image and its a lot clearer.

Here is another photo I took in the old Ice Skating Rink in Hastings.
The photo on the left, again is the original and the right is the edit.
To edit this I changed the brightness from 0 to -11 and made the image more sharper. Although when the images are shown in comparison side by side, I prefer the edit. When they are in full original size I prefer the orignial as the edit appears to be too faded and looks almost fake in my opinion. However I like how the shadow cuts off on the right of the image. As it is faded, it looks more realistic than the original.
If I hadn't have used flash on my camera it would have come out clearer, but because it was so dark without flash the image wouldn't have come out at all. So its a slight think I could consider editing if I were to use this or a similar image for my mock up pieces.

Again, another photo I took in the Ice Skating Rink.
Like the images above, the photo on the left is the original and the photo on the right is the edit.
I like how in the edit the white wall on the left appears more gross and moudly. The metal frame work appears more rusty, and the black background on it makes the metal work more prominent. However I don't like how orangey the image looks, and how the background is completely black. I prefer the brickwork background in the original image, but the rusty look in the edit if only it wasn't as orange. I may edit this further in hope of it becoming less orange.
To edit this photo I changed the brightness from 0 to 28 and the saturation from 0 to 14.

Pontential Photos

These are some photos that I took when I went in for a tour around the old underground abandoned ice skating rink on Hastings Seafront. I plan to use either these shots or similar shots for my Horror Movie Poster. I really like how the images show how empty and abandoned the place is. The shattered glass shows that it was smashed up and probably destroyed several times. The faded warning tape makes it appear old and gives the audience the impression that it's been there a long time. I especially like the photo of the darkness with the little lamp swinging in the bottom right corner. I think its very creepy and portrays isolation.
